The easy way to save money on cosmetics

Everybody wants to look their best, and good quality cosmetics help with that in a big way. There are many ways to save money when shopping for cosmetics. The best part is, you can do this and not have to compromise on quality. Whilst you could make your own of some items like this Honey, Lavender and Oatmeal soap there are some things you can’t make so here is how to save money on those. Here are a few suggestions!

Department store sales

Many up-market department stores have their sales once or twice a year. Some have cosmetic sales in particular – this is a great opportunity to buy high-end products at lower prices. You just have to pay attention, ask, or even do an online search. If you know beforehand when these cosmetic sales are, you can get there early to have your pick of the best. Be aware of expiry dates as this affects the quality of the product. This is a great way to save on cosmetics purchases.

Promotional deals

One of the great things about the economy right now is that companies are in fierce competition with one another. This has resulted in some awesome promotional deals. Keep your eyes and ears open, and you will be amazed at some of the offers. Only buy what you need, and don’t be tempted into buying what you do not need in order to get what you want for free. That will be counter-productive in more ways than one. Put your investigative hat on and get the cosmetics that you want at the counter that you want and save at the same time.

Magazine giveaways

Keep an eye out each month when the top fashion magazines come out as they often come with a free product or two. Many fashion magazines organize with big companies like Revlon, Maybelline, and L’Oreal to gift their readers with a new product that is far more expensive than the magazine itself. It is a great promotional technique that you can utilize to score some great free products.

Ask for free samples

Many cosmetic counters at various department stores offer free makeovers. After getting your makeover, you are often offered free samples, which are smaller sizes than the actual product but can last quite a while.

Buy more affordable brands

Make price comparisons – you can even do it on the internet. If you experiment, you will find that some lesser-known brands actually offer a great product. Many of the most expensive brands have had decades to build up a reputation – some newer ones offer very similar quality but have not built up the reputation yet. Explore, stay open, and experiment in small quantities before committing to any purchase.

Make the cosmetics you have last longer

If you have some high end products that you want to last, consider stretching them in creative ways. Your foundation can be combined with some moisturizer, which looks great on the skin – covering imperfections in a more natural way.

Also, if you wear foundation and powder, maybe look for a foundation that has a powdered finish so that you do not have to buy the powder as well. Discover some hints to keep your lipstick in place so that you do not have to reapply many times. There are many ways to make a little bit go a long way…find them and use them if it suits you.

Find cosmetic factory outlets in your city

Most cities have manufacturing areas that have local cosmetic factory outlets of famous international brands. Explore to find if there are manufacturers close to your home, as you can save quite a bit of money that way. If the costs of getting there are great, it may not be a feasible option for you. Factory outlets rarely have websites so try calling them before going through. You may be pleasantly surprised to find out what is available for you.

If you really want to save money on good quality cosmetics, avoid impulse buys, put on your investigative hat and discover all the opportunities to save money on cosmetics available to you. You can still look good and feel even better, knowing that there is some extra money in your bank account due to your new shopping habits.

Organising anything helps you spend less doesn’t it, when you find all the things you didn’t even remember you had!
