The easy way to organise your bathroom

Organising your bathroom is a time-consuming task that is well worth the effort. Often we neglect the bathroom because it is not on anyone’s top priority list. However, according to the principles of Feng Shui, the bathroom in the home represents the wealth of the family. Wealth is a great motivator for organizing your bathroom and deciding what to keep or discard.

Organisation Tips

After a thorough cleaning of the bathroom, it is time to properly place your personal products and accessories in the room.

Throw things away

Discard any product that is over 1 year old. Old mascara, makeup, cold creams, deodorants, as well as items without an expiry date such as hairbrushes, clips, or old rusty nail clippers.

Have suitable storage

Fit your bathroom cupboards with storage units. There is a multitude of storage units that are inexpensive and easy to install at local department and hardware stores.

Think where things are stored

Place everyday items in convenient locations. Store less used products in the lower drawers or at the back of a cupboard. You will have to experiment with a few systems to find one that works for your family. For example, if you have small children, you will not want to place beauty products on the lower shelves even if they are not used often unless you want a big mess.

Use hooks when you can

Place hooks on the walls and back of doors for dressing gowns, towels, wet swimsuits etc. Also, take the electric toothbrushes and hairdryers and secure them on the wall to free up counter space.

Toilet paper

Position a decorative toilet paper holder beside the toilet for easy use. Buy the more luxurious ones as it symbolizes wealth and you are thinking of yourself first. As well, buy better quality toilet paper, just wait for the sales.

Soap

Use a hand soap dispenser for cleaning hands. Filling them is easy, and less germs and mess is created.

Using a shower basket

Install a basket in the shower/bath to hold the shampoos and other products. There are a variety of styles on the market.

Storage in the bathroom

If the room is available, place a storage unit in the bathroom to hold all your bath towels. If storage is limited, install shelves similar to the ones in hotels to store your towels.

Keep your extra supplies in one drawer/cupboard for easy access.

Always have a place for everything in the bathroom to keep it tidy and neat.

Give washing a space

Have a designated spot for wet or dirty towels.

Tidy surfaces

A well-thought-out bathroom allows you to relax in the warmth of the bath rather than stress about what needs to be cleaned.

Organize your bathroom at least once a year to ensure that it still meets the needs of your family and that there are not things you no longer use there.
