With so many options for room decors, it’s tough to narrow the perfect look down. However, there are some foolproof principles that can help you create a space with your personal touch! Try these simple ideas:
Mix patterns and textures – Bold geometric designs may not match well with softer furnishings or darker colours, but when they’re used together in harmony both styles come alive. For example, try pairing solid green chairs (with their natural texture) next to blue velvet pillows of various shapes and sizes-the contrast will give an edge without being too overwhelming on either fabric choice alone.
Adding pops of colour from plants like flowers also helps ground any design scheme by providing lightness inside a dark environment while simultaneously adding life into what could be rather a dull room.

Everyone could use a change every now and then. We get tired of looking at the same thing every day. Here are some tips and hints to make a small change in any room. Making a small change in your room could make a huge difference and you can do it on any budget!
Paint
Pick a new paint colour and get started! It is easy to get started and not too expensive either. You can always paint furniture as well to really update the room.
Furniture
If you have some extra spending money, you can always get new furniture. If you can not afford to get much, even one new piece of furniture will be an interesting change.
Pictures
Who does not like pictures? Pictures of your family, friends, or even nature and animals can make a room look different. If you do not mind having a few nails on your walls, then I suggest using pictures to make a difference.
Add ornaments and knick-knacks
You can always add a few knick-knacks if you have the room and space for them. They may take up space, but it will create a more interesting look. The only problem is, having too many knick-knacks out on display will make it harder for you to dust. Try and find nice pieces that are easy to clean but make a good statement!
Shelving Units
If you need more space for storage, adding shelving units is a great idea. You can pick shelving units up at various DIY and home stores. I quite like cube style storage like the Kallax range from IKEA as things can be tucked in boxes and hidden from view!
Put Things On the Walls
We have a few decorations on our walls. In our living room, I prefer things with some texture so that is what we have. I think it makes the room more interesting and also detracts from the angular aspect of the room. We also have small shelving units hanging up with decorations on them. You can also make your own decorations so why not experiment or look on Pinterest for ideas.
Hang Curtains in Your Windows
If you are a crafty person, you can make the curtains you want for the windows you want. Alternatively just buying some is easy enough. They help make a room softer and show off the design you are aiming for.
Bulletin Boards
Whether you have kids or not, you can even have bulletin boards in your rooms. It can have vouchers to use in the kitchen for you to remember to take when you go shopping, or perhaps parents evening letters from school! It is an easy way to keep things together and even add your favourite photos and tickets to.
There you have it- my ideas to update any room in your house! I hope this article helps you if you get stuck and decide to be creative.
