Choosing the right wall art to match your personality

This is a collaborative post

There has never been a time when wall art has been more popular than now. From fancy restaurants to your own living room, art adorning the walls seems to be an expectation rather than a choice. And with such a variety of styles available, you are sure to find or create something that will match your personality with ease.

When choosing wall art be sure to check Desenio as they have some amazing wall art and are definitely my favourite place to shop for wall art as it is so easy to add prints and frames of your choice. If you fancy making a gallery wall then I love the Gallery Wall tool which is designed to help you choose prints that look good together and see how they would look all together.

Girly

If you have a typical ‘girly’ personality, then you may wish to look at florals and pinks, lilacs and pastel shades. There are so many choices out there right now that you might find it challenging to narrow them down to the ones that suit you best.

Some people prefer a hint of ‘girliness’ rather than going all out, so you may choose to opt for something a little more subtle, such as a palette of greys or metallics with a splash of magenta or bold florals.

Quirky

When your personality is quirky, having an ordinary home is out of the question. When it comes to quirky wall art, the wackier the better is my motto. However, it is rare to find anything in the usual home-based aisles of shops that really matches that criterion. Do not fear, though, as there is always something you can do.

Grab a wall art print that kind of like the look of it and change it. Add embellishments to it. Cut out letters from magazines and create a strange ransom message. Alternatively, create a collage of random photos using the other print as an unusual backdrop.

Studio prints from Desenio are great for location photos of your favourite places whether that be walking in Paris or a street in Notting Hill you are sure to find something quirky and special.

Dreamy

I like to think we all have a bit of dreaminess about us at times, but some of us naturally embrace this quality. Actually, it’s a great trait to represent in wall art as nature springs to mind immediately. Think bold clouds on the bluest of skies and waterfalls that make you want to dive straight in; just two examples of how you could show your dreamy side to visitors to your property.

Sunset is another image that many dreamy characters enjoy looking at. And even better is if you took a photograph and had it printed onto canvas.

Loving

Wearing your heart on your sleeve is nothing to be ashamed of. How many of us desire to show pride in our loved ones to everyone who pops around to our homes? If this sounds like you then your ideal wall art could be portraits of your family and friends. You may even wish to have a collage created out of your favourite photographs.

Alternatively, consider word art, showing important times, dates and places. Another favourite for loving individuals is displaying large wall clocks without batteries. The time shown on them is when a couple were wed, or a child was born with corresponding photographs displayed underneath.

Alternative

Finally, if you find yourself fitting into the ‘alternative’ category, it is likely that music plays the main role in your life. A setlist from one of your favourite gigs along with your ticket or a large painting of a significant artist in your life might be good options.

Alternatively, invest in some record frames and display vinyl artwork in them. At the risk of teaching you to suck eggs, always buy a second record rather than putting your actual vinyl into the frames.
