Easy ways to update any room in your home

Everyone could use a change every now and then. We get tired of looking at the same thing every day. Here are some tips and hints to make a small change in any room. Making a small change in your room could make a huge difference!

Paint

Pick a new paint colour and get started! My family and I painted part of our living room in one weekend. The old colour was off-white, but the new colour is brick red. At first, we were not so sure if we liked the colour, but we really do. Brick red makes the living room look smaller and cosy. It is a nice colour, and very different from what we are used to. You can always paint furniture as well.

Furniture

If you have some extra spending money, you can always get new furniture. We also did this for our living room, since the other furniture was kind of old. If you can not afford to get much, even one new piece of furniture will be an interesting change.

Pictures

Who does not like pictures? Pictures of your family, friends, or even nature and animals can make a room look different. If you do not mind having a few nails on your walls, then I suggest using pictures to make a difference.

Add Knick-Knacks

You can always add a few knick-knacks if you have the room and space for them. They may take up space, but it will create a more interesting look. The only problem is, having too many knick-knacks out on display will make it harder for you to dust.

Shelving Units

If you need more space for storage, adding shelving units is a great idea. You can pick shelving units up at Argos, Ikea and even charity shops. I am sure numerous other stores have storage space also.

Put Things On the Walls

We have a few decorations on our walls. In our living room, we have three black stars that are different sizes. We also have a shelving unit hanging up with decorations on them. You can also make your own decorations. I found small, flat wooden shapes from A.C. Moore’s. I painted them dark and bright colors, then I got some small mirrors and put them on. Then, I put rhinestones around the mirrors to make them look interesting.

Hang Curtains on Your Windows

If you are a crafty person, you can make the curtains you want for the windows you want. If not, curtains don’t have to be expensive, people often give them away on Facebook groups or Freecycle.

Bulletin Boards

If you have kids or not, you can even have bulletin boards in your rooms. I have a bulletin board on my bedroom wall. I use it to put pictures of my friends or other mementos on it (I used to collect movie tickets, but it took up too much room, so I had to throw them out.) To update my bulletin board, I painted it. I painted it blue and then used different-sized circles for medium purple and light green polka dots.

There you have it- my ideas to update any room in your house! I hope this article helps you if you get stuck and decide to be creative.
